After just a few days with Seth Godin’s free Manifesto: Stop Stealing Dreams, it became convincingly clear to me:

We truly are in the middle of a revolution, or as Malcolm Gladwell would say: a “Tipping Point.”

I was talking today with a college professor who spends her days working with disadvantaged young adults helping them to integrate and succeed as new entrants into community college.

She was expressing my shared concern that many of today’s college attendees lack the skills necessary to succeed in today’s professional environment. She detailed 10 years of struggles, constant work, attention and effort to help these students prepare for a meaningful career. Often to no avail.

She says she woke up one day and decided it was time to make a change.

It was at that same time that a former Hewlett Packard executive came to her college campus and implemented a new strategy that was not based on our current failing structure, but was based on the methods they use to successfully motivate and train high level employees at one of America’s great companies. .

It is easy for me to speculate that the majority of tomorrows linchpins will have understood the principles and philosophy popularized by Tim Ferriss. Whether or not they have actually read his books.

The 4 Hour Workweek and the idea of a “new rich” is not just a dreamer’s manifesto.

The 4 Hour Body is not a scam designed to sell people more books and empty promises.

Because like, that educator mentioned above, I too spent 13 years of my own life working within the constructs of a broken system with no end to justify the means.

“In the post-industrial age the good jobs and the real progress belong only to those with the confidence and the background to use the scientific method to question authority and to re-imagine a better reality.” – Seth Godin

Confidence + Background = A formula for real change!

In April of 2007 The 4 Hour Workweek reminded me that life was short, that I was better than I give myself credit for and that to dream big requires LESS NOT MORE!

E-lance may seem like an everyday term now, but in 2007 it was revolutionary.

The 4 Hour Body was just a continuum in the progression of this change.

It resolved the cognitive dissonance that I had begun to feel after years of implementing dietary protocols based on the science of Dr. Oz. It was the first step in a paradigm shift, one that has translated into infinitely better health for myself and my patients.

“Some people remain convinced that just a bit more money will make things right. Their goals are arbitrary moving targets: 300k in the bank 1,000,000 in the portfolio, $100,000 a year instead of $50,000 etc. Julie’s goal made intrinsic sense: come back with the same number of children she left with!” – Tim Ferriss the 4 Hour Workweek

The 4-Hour Idea
